Dear Moderator,
My brief for my AS Media was to create a Front Cover, Contents Page and Double Page Spread for a new music magazine. I chose to do my music magazine in a pop based genre due to recent trends causing a higher demand for the genre of music magazine, therefore, in order to supply to an ever demanding audience, I wanted to give the preferred audience of teenage girls ageing between 10- 20 years old, a new and up to date magazine that they can get all the information about music and celeb gossip that they could ever want.
I have used labels on my blog to make it easily to navigate around in order to find what you are looking for.
Yours sincerely,
Lucy Blackmore, Edgbarrow School.

Second Draft
I have been working on the comments that I have received to produce my second draft of my magazine. I think I have listened to all the comments that I have received and I feel as though my magazine has come forward a lot.

Preliminary Task
Evaluation
- Did you plan your magazine? If not, what have you learnt about the importance of research and planning?
- I didn’t plan my magazine. I think that planning and research is the main part to doing well in this task as I struggled with thinking of things to put in my magazine and what to feature in it. It I had research before I started this task I think I would have done batter and I would have been able to do it a bit faster.
- What technology did you use to complete the task and how did you use it?
- I used serif PagePlus X6 to create my magazine. This software gave me the key tools that I needed to make my magazine. It was rather easy to use and it doesn’t take very long to understand. I used a lot of the different tools such as; text, shapes, backgrounds, cut-out studio, and shading for the text. These all helped to me make my magazine look how it should.
- Did you encounter any difficulties? If so, what were they and how did you overcome them?
- I found that knowing what to put on my magazine was the hardest thing. I didn’t know what to include and where to put it. To overcome this I went onto google and looked up school magazines on images and gave myself inspiration. This helped as I could get an understanding of what really needed to be included in my magazine.
- How successful was your magazine? Please identify what worked well, and with hindsight, what would you improve/do differently?
- It think my magazine was quite successful as it has mostly all the things that a school magazine needs. If I were to do this differently I would have planned this task more before I started.
- What have you learnt from completing this task? Looking ahead, how will this learning be significant when completing the rest of your foundation coursework, do you think?
- I have learnt how to use Serif PagePlus X6 and this will be good for when I start my real coursework I will know exactly how to use the software and I will I will be able to advance in it as I go along. This will make me feel more confident when I start so I will be able to do well in my real coursework.
